Jeep Roscoe: The adventure begins!

Writer's picture: Jeep RoscoeJeep Roscoe

So, in mid 2021 I had a bit of a mid-life crisis. I was missing home (Wales, UK), depressed, not loving work, working too many hours and was questioning life. Having just had my citizenship application approved (just waiting for my ceremony now), just bought a Jeep Wrangler and desperate for a change I decided to hand in my notice at work and on my rental, sell everything I couldn't fit into my 2-door jeep and set off travelling around Australia on my own.

If COVID has taught me anything it is that you cannot take for granted that you are going to be able to do tomorrow what you can do today - once I had this thought central in my mind the rest was relatively easy.

With hindsight I would've bought a larger vehicle to go overlanding in but hey ho. I set about adding mods to Delilah, my newly christened Jeep Wrangler, to enable me to have a little more storage, protection and ground clearance.

Thanks to the COVID situation in Australia with the ever-changing border crossing conditions between states, I booked in my border crossing into Western Australia from South Australia and set about preparing to travel.

...knowing that SA was going to open its borders to virus-stricken NSW in the latter half of November, I knew there was a strong chance that WA would close the border with SA (which they did) so I could not hang around!
