In this the second episode from the Stirling Ranges we travel down SW through the National Park following the Stirling Range Drive, an unsealed road meandering through the heart of the peaks of the Stirling Ranges.
This not often travelled route is one well worth checking out for its epic vistas and dense vegetation. Stopping at several lookouts to soak in the sights of this National Park we head on to the town of Mount Barker to the SW of the national park for a spot of lunch before heading to the Porongurup Ranges which are another (smaller) mountain range running in parallel to the Stirling Ranges but further to the south.
In the Porongurups I stayed at The Porongurup Range Tourist Park, a beautiful camping and caravan park in the foothills of the Porongurups themselves. Here we check out the "Tree in the Rock" before climbing Castle Rock and the Granite Skywalk... does the Porongurups have the best views in WA? That's for you to decide.
